Proposal to Make OPF Membership Mandatory for Overseas Pakistanis to Transform Their LivesBy Irfan Siddiqi

A graceful Eid Milan gathering was organized in Japan in honor of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Chairman Syed Qamar Raza Shah by renowned businessmen Chaudhry Asif Mahmood and Shehryar Sandhu. Hundreds of members of the Pakistani community attended the event to hear the chairman’s important message regarding the welfare, facilities, and future of overseas Pakistanis.

Addressing the community, Syed Qamar Raza Shah said that he has formally requested the Prime Minister of Pakistan to make Overseas Pakistanis Foundation membership mandatory for all Pakistanis living abroad. He stated that if around 15 million overseas Pakistanis become members of OPF, it could bring a revolutionary improvement in their lives.

He said that OPF already provides a wide range of facilities for overseas Pakistanis and their families, but unfortunately many people are still unaware of these benefits. He explained that the foundation has dedicated schools, colleges, and universities for the education of their children, ensuring access to quality academic opportunities.

The chairman further said that OPF also offers insurance coverage of up to one million rupees, health insurance support, and assistance in legal and administrative matters if a Pakistani passes away anywhere in the world. Such services, he noted, can make difficult situations much easier for families.

Speaking about future initiatives, Syed Qamar Raza Shah said that separate housing colonies and modern residential societies would be established in Pakistan specifically for overseas Pakistanis. These projects will provide expatriates with secure investment opportunities and dignified residential options in their homeland.

He described OPF as a highly important national institution working for the welfare and protection of overseas Pakistanis. He added that the foundation plays a vital role in strengthening the bond between expatriates and Pakistan through practical support and welfare services.

Sharing his impressions of the Pakistani community in Japan, he said he was extremely pleased to witness unity, harmony, and deep love for Pakistan among overseas Pakistanis. He appreciated their collective spirit and commitment to supporting their homeland even while living abroad.

He urged the community to remain united and continue working together for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. He emphasized that overseas Pakistanis play a key role in national development through remittances, investment, expertise, and by enhancing Pakistan’s image internationally.

At the end of the event, participants warmly appreciated his vision and expressed strong interest in OPF membership and its welfare programs.
