Islamabad: President of the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC), Dr. Ali Farhan Razi, has emphasized the urgent need to improve the quality of nursing education and professional standards in Pakistan, stating that the healthcare sector can only progress through collective efforts and modernized training systems.
Addressing a meeting of the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council in Islamabad, Dr. Razi said that nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system and play a critical role in patient care and public health services. He stressed that the country needs highly skilled and professionally trained nursing staff capable of meeting contemporary healthcare challenges.

“The quality of nursing education must be enhanced, and our training programs should be aligned with international standards and modern healthcare requirements,” Dr. Razi said. He added that the rapid changes in medical sciences and healthcare technologies demand continuous reforms in nursing education and professional development.
The PNMC president urged all stakeholders, including educational institutions, healthcare professionals, and policymakers, to work together to strengthen the nursing sector. He highlighted the importance of introducing modern teaching methodologies, updated curricula, and advanced clinical training to equip nurses with the skills required in today’s evolving healthcare environment.
