Tokyo, Japan – The Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Japan, Mr. Abdul Hameed, met with Mr. Kenichiro Sasae, President of the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), to discuss regional and global developments as well as avenues for strengthening Pakistan–Japan relations through academic and institutional cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged insights on emerging geopolitical trends and their implications for the Asia-Pacific region. They reaffirmed the importance of sustained engagement between Pakistan and Japan in promoting peace, stability, and development in the broader region.

Ambassador Abdul Hameed highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to advancing dialogue-based diplomacy and underlined the need for closer collaboration between research institutions and policy forums in both countries. Mr. Sasae appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in regional affairs and welcomed deeper academic and think-tank level engagement.
Both sides agreed that regular exchanges between scholars, policy experts, and institutions such as JIIA and leading Pakistani think tanks would contribute to a better understanding of each other’s perspectives and help identify areas of mutual interest — including economic security, climate resilience, and regional connectivity.
The Ambassador expressed appreciation for JIIA’s role as Japan’s premier policy research institute and its longstanding contribution to international dialogue. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to expanding intellectual and institutional linkages between Pakistan and Japan to foster informed policy discourse and stronger bilateral cooperation.
