Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Japan held a dignified and emotionally charged ceremony in Tokyo to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer, marking the day when Pakistan became a nuclear power on May 28, 1998. The event drew a large gathering of community members and leaders and was a tribute to Pakistan’s strength, resilience, and sovereignty.
The ceremony’s chief guest, PML-N Japan Chairman Malik Younas, addressed the audience with a passionate speech, recalling how Pakistan responded to India’s five nuclear tests by conducting six of its own, thereby establishing nuclear parity in South Asia. He emphasized that this monumental achievement was made possible by the decisive leadership of PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif, who courageously rejected immense international pressure and billion-dollar incentives to cancel the tests.
“Pakistan’s nuclear capability has made our defense invincible,” Younas stated. “Today, because of these nuclear deterrents, India dares not look at Pakistan with hostile intentions. Even during recent border tensions, India could not cross the Line of Control.”
Younas further extended gratitude to Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan (late) and his team of scientists, who played a vital role in turning Pakistan into a nuclear state. He also paid homage to former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who laid the foundation of the nuclear program with vision and determination.
Several prominent figures also addressed the gathering, including General Secretary Shams Butt, Senior Vice President Qadeer Mughal, Chaudhry Ansar Gujar, Mirza Akram, Shehzad Butt, Qamar Suzuki, and Sikandar Pasiya. Speakers unanimously declared May 28 as a golden day in Pakistan’s history and reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan’s continued strength, development, and progress.
The event concluded with the cutting of a special Youm-e-Takbeer cake. Attendees enthusiastically chanted patriotic slogans, echoing “Pakistan Zindabad” throughout the hall, celebrating not just a day in history, but the enduring spirit of national pride and resilience.
