PML-N Chile Chairman Sheikh Tanveer Hosts Reception in Tokyo to Congratulate Chaudhry Asif Mahmood on OPF Appointment

In a well-attended ceremony held at the renowned Nawab Restaurant in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chile Chairman Sheikh Tanveer extended heartfelt congratulations to Chaudhry Asif Mahmood, a prominent Pakistani businessman in Japan, on his appointment as a Member of the Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF).

The event was organized to honor Chaudhry Asif Mahmood for his consistent efforts in representing and uplifting the overseas Pakistani community, particularly in Japan. The gathering drew a distinguished lineup of political, business, and media personalities from both within Japan and abroad.

Among the notable guests present at the event were:
• Malik Younas, Chairman of PML-N Japan
• Mr Shahid, a well-known political and social activist visiting from Canada
• Shahid Majeed, President of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Japan
• Raza Afridi , a respected entrepreneur based in Japan
• Mohammad Irfan Siddiqui, senior columnist and widely recognized journalist
• Sheikh Arif, President of PML-N Tokyo

All attendees took the opportunity to offer warm felicitations to Chaudhry Asif Mahmood on his significant appointment and appreciated his long-standing commitment to serving the interests of overseas Pakistanis.

In his remarks, Sheikh Tanveer commended Chaudhry Asif Mahmood’s leadership and tireless community service, stating, “His dedication and loyalty to the Pakistani diaspora are exemplary, and we are confident he will be a powerful voice for overseas Pakistanis within OPF.”

Malik Younas also praised the appointment, saying that it reflects the growing recognition of overseas Pakistanis’ contributions and the importance of including credible community leaders in national decision-making bodies.

From Canada, Shahid acknowledged that Asif Mahmood’s inclusion in the OPF Board of Governors is not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride for all Pakistanis living abroad. “He understands the real issues faced by expats, and we trust he will raise them effectively,” he added.

PPP Japan President Shahid Majeed set aside political differences to attend the reception, stating, “When it comes to the representation of overseas Pakistanis, we all must stand united.”

Journalist Mohammad Irfan Siddiqui, speaking on the occasion, highlighted the importance of such appointments and emphasized the role media and diaspora leaders can play in bridging communities and government policy.

Chaudhry Asif Mahmood, in his brief but heartfelt speech, thanked Sheikh Tanveer and all the participants for the recognition. He pledged to continue his mission of serving overseas Pakistanis, especially in Japan, and said he would use his position on the OPF Board to voice the concerns of the diaspora at the highest level.

The event concluded with a dinner and informal networking session, where guests shared ideas and discussed future community initiatives.
