Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Meets Secretary of Communications, Secretary of Housing & Works, and DIG Islamabad

Islamabad (March 7, 2025) – Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan held separate meetings with Secretary of Communications Ali Sher Mehsud, Secretary of Housing & Works Dr. Shehzad Bangash, and DIG Islamabad Police Muhammad Jawad Tariq at the Parliament House.

Discussion on NHA Projects and Infrastructure Development

During the meeting with Secretary of Communications Ali Sher Mehsud, discussions focused on the ongoing National Highway Authority (NHA) projects across the country, particularly in Balochistan. Emphasis was placed on the timely completion of infrastructure projects to improve the road network and enhance the quality of life for citizens.

Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan stressed the importance of expanding the road network and strengthening the transportation system in Balochistan. He highlighted that NHA projects are creating job opportunities in the province, contributing to regional development and prosperity. The meeting also explored the initiation of new road construction projects in remote areas to facilitate connectivity and economic growth.

Housing Projects and Facilities for Government Employees

In a separate meeting, Secretary of Housing & Works Dr. Shehzad Bangash briefed Deputy Chairman Senate on the current and proposed housing projects, particularly in Balochistan. The discussion focused on the urgent need for new housing initiatives to address the growing demand for residential facilities in the province.

Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan emphasized that both federal and provincial governments must collaborate to launch housing projects for the people of Balochistan. He expressed concern over the housing shortages faced by government employees and the general public, urging the Housing Ministry to develop a comprehensive strategy to resolve the issue.

He further directed the authorities to collect data on government employees who have not yet been allotted official residences. Highlighting that thousands of employees remain without housing, he stressed the need for accelerated efforts to complete pending projects and ensure the provision of accommodation to those in need. He assured full support for the Ministry of Housing in its efforts to implement an effective and transparent housing policy.

Security Concerns and Strengthening Law Enforcement in Islamabad

Later, Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan met with DIG Islamabad Police Muhammad Jawad Tariq to discuss the overall security situation in Islamabad, with a special focus on the safety of Parliament members.

During the meeting, Syedaal Khan underscored the importance of enhancing security measures at Parliament House and Parliament Lodges. He issued directives to further tighten security arrangements and ensure that all necessary resources are utilized to maintain a safe and peaceful environment for the citizens of Islamabad.

DIG Islamabad Police assured the Deputy Chairman Senate that law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to safeguarding the city. He further stated that steps are being taken to enhance security at key government buildings, including Parliament House and Parliament Lodges.

The Deputy Chairman Senate appreciated the efforts of the Islamabad Police and stressed the importance of proactive measures to prevent security threats and maintain law and order in the federal capital.
