Acting Chairman Senate Meets DG FIA, Discusses Security and Investigative Challenges

Acting Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir held an important meeting with the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), during which detailed discussions were held on the agency’s overall performance, ongoing investigations, and key security and investigative challenges at the national level.

According to a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat’s Media Directorate, the Director General FIA briefed the Acting Chairman Senate on recent operations, special enforcement drives, and the use of modern investigative technologies aimed at improving efficiency and transparency. He also apprised him of measures taken to ensure the timely resolution of public complaints and to enhance public trust in the institution.

During the briefing, the DG FIA provided a comprehensive overview of the agency’s ongoing efforts against cybercrime, cross-border crimes, money laundering, and human trafficking. He stated that in view of the rapidly evolving nature of digital and transnational crimes, the FIA is increasingly relying on advanced technological tools, data analysis, and intelligence-led investigations. He emphasized that strict action is being taken against organized criminal networks involved in financial crimes and human smuggling under a zero-tolerance policy.

The Director General further highlighted the importance of international cooperation in tackling cross-border criminal activities. He noted that coordination with foreign law enforcement agencies and international organizations has been strengthened to counter sophisticated crime syndicates operating across national boundaries.

Acting Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir appreciated the professional services and efforts of the FIA and stressed that the protection of state institutions, transparent investigations, and merit-based decision-making are critical requirements of the present time. He underscored that strong, independent, and professionally competent investigative institutions are essential for upholding the rule of law and ensuring the effective delivery of justice.

The Acting Chairman emphasized the need to further promote modern investigative techniques and adopt a comprehensive and coordinated strategy to effectively deal with international and emerging crimes. He said that changing global dynamics have made criminal activities more complex, requiring enhanced inter-agency coordination, information sharing, and sustained international collaboration.

Syedal Khan Nasir assured full parliamentary support for law enforcement agencies and stated that the Senate would stand behind all initiatives aimed at strengthening internal security, improving governance, and reinforcing public confidence in state institutions. He remarked that national institutions like the FIA serve as fundamental pillars of internal security, transparent governance, and an effective justice system.

He also stressed the importance of capacity building, institutional reforms, and continuous training to enable the FIA to respond effectively to evolving security threats. According to him, investment in human resources and technology is essential to ensure long-term institutional strength and credibility.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further enhance institutional coordination and cooperation in the national interest, with the objective of effectively addressing internal and external challenges, safeguarding public interests, and strengthening the rule of law across the country.
