Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasar has termed the possible ceasefire and the opening of direct negotiations between the United States and Iran as a major and historic diplomatic success for Pakistan, saying the country’s role is now being widely acknowledged and appreciated at the global level.
Addressing the concluding session of National Workshop Balochistan-19 (NWB-19) at Parliament House Islamabad, in honor of a 92 member delegation, Syedal Khan Nasar said Pakistan’s political and military leadership played a highly effective, balanced, and prudent role in reducing decades long mistrust between Washington and Tehran. He said Pakistan’s timely diplomatic intervention helped prevent the threat of a major global confrontation and opened the door for meaningful dialogue between the two countries.

The Deputy Chairman Senate noted that the resumption of dialogue between the United States and Iran after nearly half a century is a reflection of Pakistan’s realistic, peace oriented, and mature foreign policy. According to him, this breakthrough has not only reduced tensions in an already volatile region but has also contributed positively to global peace and stability. He added that such diplomatic progress may have saved countless human lives by preventing further escalation.

He further said that the international community, diplomatic circles, and global media are openly recognizing Pakistan’s constructive role, which he described as clear evidence of the country’s rising global stature. He also revealed that interest has been expressed in holding future rounds of negotiations in Pakistan, indicating growing international confidence in Islamabad as a responsible, credible, and peace loving state.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to peace, Syedal Khan Nasar said the country has always demonstrated seriousness through practical diplomatic measures rather than rhetoric alone. He observed that elements engaged in negative propaganda against Pakistan have effectively been countered by this diplomatic success, while the national leadership has sent a strong and positive message to the world through unity, wisdom, and strategic foresight.

The Deputy Chairman Senate underscored that close coordination between Pakistan’s political and military leadership remains essential for ensuring national strength, stability, and long term progress. He also praised the role of the media for effectively projecting Pakistan’s national narrative and strengthening the country’s positive image globally.
Referring to National Workshop Balochistan-19, he said the platform has been fostering meaningful dialogue on key national issues since its inception in 2017, particularly in the context of Balochistan. Such intellectual and policy forums, he noted, are vital for promoting national cohesion, sustainable development, and collective thinking.

He also commended the joint hosting of the workshop by the Government of Balochistan and Headquarters 12 Corps Quetta, saying strong civil military cooperation is fundamental to national development and stability. Highlighting Balochistan’s strategic and economic significance, he said the province is poised to play a central role in Pakistan’s bright future.
During the concluding session, Syedal Khan Nasar also held an interactive discussion with participants, shedding light on the parliamentary system, legislative processes, and the responsibilities of elected representatives. Participants showed keen interest and actively engaged through questions. At the conclusion of the event, certificates and shields were distributed among the participants in recognition of their performance and participation.
