A warm and meaningful gathering was held in the Japanese city of Toyama to celebrate the recovery of Asif Mahmood, member of the Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF). After a challenging period of illness, news of his improving health brought comfort and happiness to overseas Pakistanis across Japan. To honor this moment, respected community members Lala Rafaqat Khan and Malik Sajid hosted a “Health Recovery Gathering,” which brought together a large turnout from various parts of the country.
The event reflected unity and appreciation, highlighting the strong bond Pakistanis in Japan share with Asif Mahmood.





A Gathering of Prominent Personalities
The event saw the participation of many familiar figures from the community. Those who attended included PML-N Japan Chairman Malik Younis, PPP Japan’s Shahid Majeed, senior members such as Shahid Majeed, columnist Irfan Siddiqi, Ashraf Chehal, Dolat Khan, Khursheed Khan, Zaheer Sahara, Zaheer Chehal, Sajjad Shah, Malik Afzal, and a large number of Pakistanis from different cities.
Their presence showed the widespread respect Asif Mahmood enjoys for his accessibility, dedication, and continuous engagement with overseas Pakistanis. Throughout the gathering, attendees expressed joy at his recovery and praised his efforts in addressing community concerns at various government levels.






Recognizing His Work Under OPF
Speakers highlighted the valuable work Asif Mahmood has carried out for overseas Pakistanis through OPF. His contributions include guiding expatriates on documentation procedures, assisting families facing property challenges in Pakistan, and creating smoother communication channels between the diaspora and national institutions.
Many attendees noted that his willingness to listen and respond to the concerns of overseas Pakistanis has strengthened their trust in OPF. His consistent presence at community events, and his effort to elevate expatriate issues at the policy level, were also acknowledged. His recovery was celebrated as a moment of relief not just for him personally but for the many individuals who depend on his dedicated service.
