Governor Sindh Honored for Promoting Sports, Highlights Pakistan Customs’ Role in Hockey Development

Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori congratulated Collector, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Mr. Moin-ud-Din Ahmed Wani, and the Pakistan Customs hockey team for their remarkable victory in the National Hockey Championship. He praised the team’s dedication, hard work, and passion for the game, highlighting that their win was a testament to the resilience and talent of Pakistani hockey players. He acknowledged the role of Pakistan Customs in promoting and nurturing hockey talent and expressed his hope that such efforts would continue to revive Pakistan’s national game on a broader scale.

A significant meeting was held at Governor House, Karachi, on February 6, 2025, where Collector, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Mr. Moin-ud-Din Ahmed Wani, met His Excellency, Governor Sindh, Mr. Kamran Khan Tessori, to recognize his outstanding contributions to promoting sports across Sindh, particularly his dedicated efforts for the revival of Pakistan’s national game, Hockey.

During the meeting, Mr. Moin-ud-Din Ahmed Wani presented a Shield of Honour to Governor Kamran Tessori, acknowledging his role as a Patron of Sports and his commitment to fostering a strong sports culture in the province. In response, Governor Sindh also presented a commemorative shield to the Collector Customs, appreciating Pakistan Customs’ key role in supporting and sponsoring hockey tournaments and developing sports infrastructure in Pakistan.

Several prominent figures from the sports, media, and administration sectors attended the meeting. Among them were former national hockey player, Muhammad Naeem, Secretary Club Customs Sports Complex, Additional Collector Customs Basit Hussain, Advocate Amir Aziz Khan, President Pedal Sports Association, and senior journalists Yahya Hussaini, Kamran Razi, and Irfan Siddiqui. These attendees highlighted the importance of institutional support in reviving hockey and other sports in Pakistan.

Governor Kamran Tessori commended Pakistan Customs’ continuous efforts in promoting hockey at the national level and emphasized the urgent need for public-private partnerships to enhance sports facilities, renovate stadiums, and provide modern training facilities for young athletes. He expressed his full support for initiatives aimed at promoting sports and ensuring that aspiring players receive the resources and encouragement they need to succeed. He particularly praised Muhammad Naeem, Secretary Customs Sports Complex, for his dedication to training young hockey players and ensuring that youth development remains a priority.

Speaking on the occasion, Collector Customs Moin-ud-Din Ahmed Wani reaffirmed Pakistan Customs’ commitment to supporting hockey and other sports in Pakistan. He noted that Pakistan Customs has played an instrumental role in sponsoring hockey tournaments, financially assisting players, and providing training facilities. He emphasized that hockey, as Pakistan’s national game, deserves institutional backing and strategic investment to regain its former glory.
