Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan visited the Lahore residence of former Member of the National Assembly Umar Sohail Zia Butt — a close relative of PML-N President and former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, and current Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif — to offer condolences on the passing of his maternal uncle, Mian Shahid Shafi.
During the visit, he expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise, praying for the elevation of the departed soul’s ranks, a high place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and patience and strength for the bereaved family.

Prominent personalities present on the occasion included senior politician Sohail Zia Butt, Javed Shafi, Pervaiz Shafi, Zahid Shafi, and the deceased’s son, Muhammad Arham Shahid.
Deputy Chairman Senate paid tribute to the late Mian Shahid Shafi as a dignified, courteous, and sociable personality whose absence would be deeply felt. He spent time with the family to express complete solidarity in this moment of grief.
Deputy Chairman Senate Meets Former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore

Islamabad – August 9, 2025:
Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan met with former Punjab Chief Minister and current Member of the National Assembly Mian Muhammad Hamza Shehbaz Sharif at the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Central Secretariat in Model Town, Lahore.
The meeting focused on a detailed exchange of views on the country’s political, economic, and security situation. Deputy Chairman Senate extended an invitation to Hamza Shehbaz to visit his chamber in Islamabad and undertake a tour of Balochistan.


He commended Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his tireless efforts for national progress and stability, and praised Hamza Shehbaz’s strategic governance during his tenure as Punjab Chief Minister. Syedal Khan expressed hope that Hamza Shehbaz would visit Balochistan to assess local issues and development prospects, contributing to provincial advancement.

Hamza Shehbaz accepted the invitation, assuring that he would not only visit Balochistan but also meet in Islamabad to continue consultations on national matters. Both leaders appreciated PML-N’s initiatives for economic growth and national development, reaffirming their commitment to joint efforts for the country’s prosperity.
Deputy Chairman Senate Calls on Former Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique in Lahore

Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan visited former Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique to inquire about his health and present a bouquet of flowers. The two leaders discussed the prevailing political and economic situation of the country.

Syedal Khan lauded Khawaja Saad Rafique’s services as Federal Minister, especially in implementing effective and sustainable reforms in the Railways, Culture, and Youth Affairs sectors. He emphasized that Pakistan needs experienced leadership and unity, and leaders like Saad Rafique can play a significant role in institutional improvement and economic revival.

He also extended an invitation to Khawaja Saad Rafique to visit Balochistan. Both leaders agreed to work together for the country’s development, public welfare, and national cohesion.

Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan visited the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Islamabad, where he was warmly received by Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki.

The two dignitaries held detailed discussions on bilateral relations, regional developments, mutual cooperation, and matters of shared interest. Syedal Khan described Saudi Arabia as a sincere, time-tested friend of Pakistan that has stood by the nation during natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes.

He emphasized that Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations are rooted in religious harmony, cultural affinity, mutual trust, and brotherhood. He highlighted the Kingdom’s economic support through investments and acknowledged the valuable contribution of millions of Pakistani expatriates working in Saudi Arabia.
Referring to Makkah and Madinah as the spiritual centers for the Muslim Ummah, Syedal Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the security and sanctity of Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki underscored Saudi Arabia’s deep respect for Pakistan and the exemplary relationship between the two brotherly nations, which continues to strengthen over time.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of a bouquet by the Deputy Chairman Senate to the Saudi Ambassador, along with best wishes for further enhancing bilateral ties.
