Bangkok. Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir has emphasized the significance of overseas Pakistanis, particularly those residing in Thailand, calling them a valuable asset to the nation. He stated that each Pakistani living abroad serves as an ambassador of their homeland and has a responsibility to uphold its dignity and prestige. While addressing the Pakistani community in Thailand, he urged them to demonstrate integrity in business, adhere to local laws, and maintain a strong moral character to reflect positively on Pakistan.

Overseas Pakistanis contribute significantly to the country’s economy through remittances, investments, and trade. According to government statistics, remittances from overseas Pakistanis form a major chunk of Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves, helping the economy remain stable despite global financial fluctuations. Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir highlighted this point, stating, “The hard work and dedication of overseas Pakistanis are instrumental in Pakistan’s economic growth. Their contributions not only strengthen our financial standing but also improve Pakistan’s image globally.”

He further elaborated that the Pakistani community in Thailand has played a crucial role in fostering economic ties between the two nations. By engaging in trade, business, and employment in various sectors, these expatriates have become a bridge for cultural and economic exchange between Pakistan and Thailand. The senator encouraged Pakistanis residing in Thailand to continue their hard work and always remember that their actions shape the perception of Pakistan in foreign lands. “Wherever we live, we must fully respect the laws of that country, conduct ourselves with dignity, and ensure that Pakistan’s name is always associated with honesty and integrity,” he added.

Pakistan and Thailand have long-standing diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. Over the years, both nations have collaborated in various sectors, including trade, tourism, education, and technology. The role of the Pakistani embassy in Thailand is crucial in maintaining these relationships and supporting the Pakistani community. Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir commended Rukhsana Afzaal, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Thailand, for her dedicated efforts in representing Pakistan on an international level. He said, “Ambassador Rukhsana Afzaal is performing her duties with excellence, and her leadership has strengthened Pakistan’s diplomatic presence in Thailand. She is actively working to enhance bilateral relations and provide support to our overseas community.”

He also acknowledged the role of Consular Tanveer Ahmed, who has been actively assisting the Pakistani community in Thailand. He praised the embassy’s efforts in providing essential services, including legal support, passport renewal, and business assistance to Pakistanis in Thailand. “The embassy is a home away from home for our citizens, ensuring their concerns are addressed and providing the necessary guidance to facilitate their stay in Thailand,” he added. This recognition reflects the government’s commitment to improving diplomatic and consular services for overseas Pakistanis, ensuring they feel supported in foreign lands.

One of the core messages in Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir’s address was the importance of ethical business practices and legal compliance. He urged Pakistani expatriates to ensure they adhere to Thailand’s local laws and regulations while conducting business or employment. “Pakistanis in Thailand must set a positive example by being law-abiding citizens. Respect for local laws, ethical business practices, and maintaining a good reputation should be our priority,” he emphasized.

Thailand, being a thriving economy and a hub for tourism and trade, offers immense business opportunities. Many Pakistani entrepreneurs and traders have established themselves successfully in the country. However, challenges such as legal restrictions, trade barriers, and visa regulations can sometimes create difficulties. To address these concerns, Syedal Khan Nasir assured the community that the Pakistani embassy is always available to provide guidance and legal support to those facing challenges. He encouraged businessmen to seek advice from the consular services before engaging in any legal contracts or investments.

Furthermore, he stressed that Pakistanis should avoid any activities that could damage the country’s reputation. “Every individual’s conduct reflects on our nation. By being responsible, honest, and hardworking, we can change perceptions and ensure that Pakistanis are seen as contributors to Thailand’s economy and society,” he said.

Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir also highlighted the importance of unity and social responsibility within the Pakistani community in Thailand. He encouraged Pakistanis to support each other in difficult times and work towards collective progress. “Our strength lies in our unity. We must support one another, help those in need, and create a community that thrives on cooperation and goodwill,” he stated.

Many Pakistani expatriates in Thailand are engaged in community service activities, providing aid to those facing hardships, offering educational assistance to underprivileged children, and organizing cultural events to promote Pakistan’s heritage. The senator appreciated these efforts and encouraged further involvement in social initiatives. He also emphasized the importance of education, urging expatriate parents to ensure that their children receive quality education and remain connected to their cultural roots. “Education is the key to success. We must ensure that our younger generation is equipped with the knowledge and skills to excel in life while staying true to their identity,” he remarked.

Pakistan’s government has been taking steps to address the concerns of overseas Pakistanis and provide them with better opportunities. Various initiatives have been launched, including the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), which is dedicated to the welfare of expatriates, providing assistance in legal matters, property disputes, and investment opportunities. The Roshan Digital Accounts initiative allows overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan’s economy from anywhere in the world, while the Pakistan Remittance Initiative (PRI) facilitates secure and efficient remittance transfers.

Deputy Chairman Senate assured the Pakistani community in Thailand that the government is continuously working to improve policies and services for them. He encouraged them to stay connected with the embassy and avail themselves of government schemes designed for their benefit. “Your contributions matter to Pakistan. We recognize your sacrifices and efforts, and we are committed to making your lives easier by improving policies and support systems,” he assured.

In his concluding remarks, Syedal Khan Nasir expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan-Thailand relations. He stated that with strong diplomatic ties, increased trade partnerships, and the active involvement of the overseas Pakistani community, both nations can benefit from mutual cooperation. He called on the Pakistani community in Thailand to continue playing their role in strengthening the bond between the two nations. “We must work together to build a stronger Pakistan and a better future for our next generations. Through hard work, unity, and dedication, we can achieve great things,” he said.

He also urged the Pakistani media to highlight the positive contributions of overseas Pakistanis and promote their achievements on international platforms. The speech by Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan Nasir served as an important reminder of the role overseas Pakistanis play in shaping the country’s future. His words resonated with the Pakistani community in Thailand, reinforcing the importance of integrity, unity, and adherence to local laws.

With continued efforts from the government, embassy, and the Pakistani community itself, the relationship between Pakistan and Thailand is set to grow stronger, bringing prosperity and new opportunities for all. As Pakistanis continue to make a mark worldwide, their collective success will ultimately contribute to a brighter and more prosperous Pakistan.
