Tokyo, Japan – The Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Japan, Mr. Abdul Hameed, held a meeting with Professor Umehara Izuru, President of Yokohama National University (YNU), to discuss expanding academic and research cooperation between Pakistan and Japan.

During the meeting, both sides explored opportunities to strengthen the student exchange programme between YNU and leading universities in Pakistan. They emphasized the importance of providing more scholarships and research opportunities for Pakistani students, enabling them to gain exposure to Japan’s advanced academic and technological environment.

The discussions also covered enhanced collaboration between Pakistani and Japanese researchers in key global areas such as natural disaster reduction, renewable energy, and sustainable development. Ambassador Abdul Hameed appreciated YNU’s ongoing contributions in building academic bridges with Pakistan and underscored Pakistan’s commitment to deepening educational and scientific ties with Japan.
Following the meeting, the Ambassador interacted with Pakistani students currently studying at YNU. He commended their academic achievements and encouraged them to continue serving as ambassadors of Pakistan’s culture, talent, and potential.
The visit reflected the growing momentum in Pakistan–Japan educational cooperation, highlighting shared priorities in innovation, resilience, and human resource development. The Ambassador expressed hope that continued institutional linkages will further strengthen people-to-people ties and open new avenues of collaboration between the two nations.
