Ambassador Abdul Hameed Hosts Dinner Honouring Japan–Pakistan Association Ahead of PJA Symposium in Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan – October 29, 2025: The Ambassador-designate of Pakistan to Japan, Mr. Abdul Hameed, hosted a special dinner in honour of the Japan–Pakistan Association (JPA), bringing together distinguished guests from Japan’s diplomatic, corporate, and academic circles. The gathering celebrated the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Japan while setting the tone for the upcoming PJA symposium titled “Pakistan: A Resource-Rich Nation.”

The event was attended by several eminent personalities, including Mr. Imaizumi Shun, Chairman of the Japan–Pakistan Association; Mr. Matsushima Kouichi, President of YKK Corporation; and Mr. Kamimura Shigeaki of Toyota Tsusho. Adding to the significance of the evening were the former Ambassadors of Japan to Pakistan, Mr. Kojima Seiji and Mr. Matsuda Kumamoto, whose longstanding association with Pakistan has greatly contributed to the strengthening of bilateral ties over the years.

In his welcoming address, Ambassador Abdul Hameed expressed his deep appreciation for the Japan–Pakistan Association’s sustained efforts in promoting understanding and cooperation between the two nations. He highlighted Japan’s historical support for Pakistan in areas of economic development, technology, and human resource advancement, noting that such partnerships continue to form the backbone of the bilateral relationship.

The Ambassador also underlined Pakistan’s growing economic and investment potential, particularly in renewable energy, mineral resources, agriculture, and information technology. He noted that Pakistan’s strategic location and resource base offer a wide range of opportunities for Japanese businesses seeking to diversify their global partnerships.

The dinner provided an opportunity for an open exchange of ideas on how to further enhance bilateral engagement, particularly through collaboration between Japanese corporations and Pakistani enterprises. Participants discussed the importance of strengthening people-to-people connections, educational linkages, and corporate partnerships to support sustainable development.

The forthcoming PJA symposium “Pakistan: A Resource-Rich Nation” was highlighted as a significant platform for deepening dialogue on Pakistan’s untapped potential and showcasing new areas of trade and investment cooperation.

Concluding the evening, Ambassador Abdul Hameed reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding its partnership with Japan and acknowledged the vital role the Japan–Pakistan Association continues to play in nurturing this long-standing friendship. The evening concluded with a renewed spirit of cooperation and optimism for a stronger, forward-looking partnership between the two countries.
